It’s currently 1am in the morning, “Footloose” has just finished on the telly, and I’m taking a break from the many headaches that adobe indesign is giving me (for one of my assignments for uni, basically involves creating a book from beginning to end…) and wondering if I want a cigarette.

I keep seeing persimmons doing the can-can in front of my eyes, and I suspect that’s happening for a few reasons. I do know that lack of sleep can cause hallucinations, and the subject of my imaginings may have something to do with the fact that mom bought 2kg of persimmons today for $1.50 a kg. Which proves how wonderful markets are, as the supermarket is charing $1.30 per fruit. HAH!

Sleep? Cigarette? And what the hell am I going to do with 2kg of persimmons? I don’t have any recipes for persimmon! (perhaps I should stick to doing something with the 5kg of carrots and apples she purchased?!)

I guess sleep would be more inviting if my big palooka of a dog weren’t snoring and farting on my bed. Pffth.

Good lord. I don’t think I could pick Persimmons out of a lineup….of fruit. :o) Yeah that damn dogs farting in beds! that is the worst.

Persimmons are a japanese fruit, roundish, bright orange when ripe, and can be eaten at their ripe (hard) and overripe (softer and squisher than mango) stages. You can usually pick them by their distinctive cap with four leaves (it looks like an elf’s cap!)

As for farting dogs…I ended up having to air my room out, some of them got too much *cringe*

teeee! Apparently Mr. Woofy gets plenty of fiber in his diet.. very good! And it’s got to make you wonder.. farts on the whole are nasty.. but dog farts are the fakkin worst. So what the hell is in their food, exactly?? Dead skunk?

Have you checked in with Nigella regarding the persimmons? I’ve never had them, nor come across a recipe that included them.. but it seems like she’d be the one to concoct something delightful with them :D

I’m calculating if it’s 4 am here, then it must be around 8 pm there? How did gnocchi go? I’m dyin’ over heah with curiosity! :)

Footloose! As in Kenny Loggins?

Hi Lisa!

Mr. Woofy gets plenty of fibre, trust me on that - we give him a dinner of fresh meat and vegetables at least twice a week to break up the monotony of dry dog food…he loves it, but unfortunately the smells he creates are a bit unlovable…

I’ve been surfing the net for persimmon recipes, and most of the recipes that I’ve found will destroy the texture or overwhelm the delicate flavour of this fruit, so I’m still at a bit of a loss. Of course, while I search I’m also making my way through the stash with some natural yoghurt…mmmm!!!

The gnocchi hasn’t happened yet! My sister talked me into letting her cook - now, this is a bit of a miracle as this girl NEVER cooks and cannot handle a knife to save her life, so I let her make dinner, which ended up being…packet tacos. Seriously. I do NOT call that cooking. Might make a small batch today to make up for it, but I’ve also got that zucchini that’s starting to look a tiny bit sad!

Hi Generally - it’s the 80’s movie which featured the song on it’s soundtrack, starring Kevin Bacon, Sarah Jessica Parker, John Lithgow and more. One of the 80’s classics (along with flashdance, pretty in pink, the breakfast club etc), it’s worth a watch for it’s cheesiness!
