Sheer Vanity
There are so many things that I don’t like about my appearance, but one thing I have always, always loved is my hair.
Thick, jet black, healthy, vibrant and bouncy - I’ve always gotten compliments on it and as a result I’ve always thought of it as my crowning glory.
For two years, I had a GEM of a hairdresser at Hennesy Lane in Glen Waverley - a tiny little English waif called Emma who was sunny and cheeky as all hell, and always managed to have me leaving the salon feeling like a million dollars, my hair bouncing with every step.
I called the salon this morning, only to find to my UTTER DISMAY that she relocated to the country a month ago…which means that I no longer have a hairdresser. The girl on the phone asked if I’d like to try someone else, so I asked who would be available this evening…she suggested K, and said she was very good.
$75 and over an hour later, and my hair has been MASSACRED! Possibly one of the WORST haircuts I have ever had, she has ‘thinned out’ (aka cut MASSIVE CHUNKS of my hair away from my head so short that I may have had a FUCKING BUZZCUT) so much that my hair is now completely lifeless, has NO body or bounce, and is hanging straight down over like a fucking curtain.
I can’t even bear to put run my fingers through my hair because all I can feel is GIANT CHUNKS OF STUBBLE with some thin wisps of hair dispersed around them.
I’m on the verge of tears…and she has fucking cut it so short that it will take FOREVER to grow out. What am I meant to do?!

PROOF OF WHAT THIS WOMAN DID TO MY HAIR - LOOK at how fucking short that is against my finger!! She has done this ALL over my head except for the very top.
*sobs*

OMG Ellie that is awful! In Japan and Hawaii, they like to “thin out” hair too (not that short though–knock on wood). My hair has never been one length in years. All I can say is I feel for you.
oh gosh! I’m so sorry she did that to your lovely hair. I have bad hair cuts before but never like yours did to your hair. I hope your hair grow fast.
That’s horrible! Did you say anything to her afterwards? Or to one of the other hairdressers there? I absolutely cannot understand this need of hairdressers to ‘thin’ out thick hair, what is so wrong with a full head of hair?
Cooking Ninja - Thanks hon, I hope it grows fast too (>_< )
Naridu - I didn’t actually realize that the stubble had happened till I was almost home, at which point I just fled to my bed and sobbed :/ I have since spoken to the salon, the manager gave me a full refund and offered to restyle my hair whenever I need in the next few months which is some relief…but still, I can’t believe it was cut like this :/
As for the thinning…well, there’s nothing wrong with a full head of hair, but I have 3x the average amount of hair, plus each of my hair strands is quite thick which means that my hair can be really heavy and lank with no movement. That’s why I usually get a bit of thinning, to create a bit of texture and movement in my hair…but this was just ridiculous! Never again!
Omg, what a fucking butcher.
I’m so sorry, baby.
I know you don’t care right now, but it WILL grow back. ![]()
oh hon! that’s terrible and i know exactly how you feel. i remember one cut that was so bad (it had to do with thinning too) that i came this close to getting extensions even tho that would have cost a bomb. ![]()
it will take a while to grow back but at least it definitely will. it looks like you can hide the stubbly bits in the meanwhile - maybe they will provide bounce as they grow longer? anything else you could do to make it grow faster???

Buzzcut?
Jesus! What did they think they were doing?
