Squeals from a fan-girl
So, I’m the first to admit that I’m a dork. I’m not the kinda gal that oozes sophistication and charm, I love cheesy 80s movies, David Bowie and nonsense movies.
And, I’m a BIG fan of fantasy, particularly the Harry Potter series. Mind you, I haven’t been happy with the quality of all the books, but then again, I do have to bear in mind that these are childrens books and not pinnacles of quality in literature. They’re meant to entertain, and entertain they do. Besides, after 6 books, I’m too emotionally invested in the characters to get off this ride before the end.
I just have to do the squealy thing at the moment because it is LESS than 24 hours before the next book comes out! Oh god, the emotional rollercoaster ride the wait has been - I cried when Sirius died in front of Harry’s arms, and I bawled my eyes out when Dumbledore was killed by Snape (the traitor!!) - my heart is now knotted with anxiety to see whether Harry will survive this journey. Surely, she won’t kill him, will she? She can’t! If Voldemort dies, then Harry has to live - the prophecy said so!
Thankfully, I will not be undergoing this tumultuous journey alone. As with the past 3 books, my girlfriends and I are having a Harry Potter reading party tomorrow, where we will all go to Chadstone to collect our books, then back to K’s place to sit down and read and munch away.
And after Harry Potter’s final book is read? Well, then I’ll wait to see the movie of Phillip Pullman’s “The Golden Compass” (first of the ‘His Dark Materials’ trilogy) in between now and the next movie
Oh, the waiting, she hurts!

After finishing the book myself last night I have no doubt your reading party was a good one, although I let out a few whimpers of sorrow while following Harry’s tale the end result was perfectly beautiful.
I’ve actually been searching for a good set of Pullman’s books as I’ve not read them yet and want to make sure the magic is firmly absorbed in my mind before the movie comes out, I can’t believe I missed reading this series!
