Attack of the mai tais
So I went out to drinks last Saturday night with a few girlfriends, and we decided to explore Madame Brussels, a bar that seems like it were designed for the overwhelming female clientèle (men, if you’re looking for a bar that has a greater female/male ratio, then this is the place!). I can’t really describe it, but all I can say is that this is definitely a bar that I’ll be revisiting!
Majority of the decor is pastel pink and green, the bar being no exception
The furniture is a mixture of plush couches and metal garden furniture which looks like it was plucked from the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, and the paved path and astroturf is a very nice touch
Another brilliant touch is the fact that cocktails can be ordered by the jug. At $25 for a jug for 2, or $40 for a jug for 4, this is quite reasonable… though there is a ridiculous amount of ice.
To be honest though - after a few glasses you won’t really be in a state to complain about the ice cubes. Well, not if you’re as pitiful in alcohol tolerance as I am!
Overall it was a pretty good experience. We got there at about 7:30pm and all the seating was already taken, and by about 9:30pm the line for the bar extended all the way down the path and almost out onto the balcony, so if you’re going to be visiting Madames, then I’d suggest that you try and get there earlier to score some decent seating for the evening’s drinks. And an added bonus to Madame Brussels location is that it is right across the road from Pellegrinis - a great spot for a late night coffee/hot chocolate and (if you’re lucky) a few glasses of their delicious watermelon granita (which I was assured was made with lots and lots of amore!)
